Monday monday

Last full day in Venice. We had a very nice meal last night though a tad pricey.

Got up just before 6 again and this time we both went photo hunting. I guess being a Monday accounted for the fact it was a bit busier than yesterday but still blissfully empty.

It was interesting to see the little boats coming in this morning loaded up with supplies, which must come in every morning like this.

Today I think we are going to visit the Doges’ palace and the basilica. I have underestimated the heat a bit and find I need to shop for a thin dress! Mr Packham is finding that a wee bit tiresome.

Just a few early ones…….

After breakfast set off to the Doges Palace. Gold, gold, and more gold on the ceilings mainly. Then a trip around the Archaeological museum and gallery followed by a quick nip into the Basilica. The crowds, though still plentiful, do seem to have thinned out a bit.

Venice is undoubtedly a beautiful city, but is also a bit of a clip joint! Once you get off the main streets and into the back waters you start to see Venice as was.

As we wandered through the more deserted alleyways you can’t help remembering the brilliant film, Don’t Look Now.

We leave Venice tomorrow and will be heading to Bologna for just one night.

Some of the photos from today, we were not allowed to take any in the Basilica…..

Some of the statues I’ve taken with an arty farty setting on my camera, just to see what it did. This last one reminded me of you Mark!…….
